CityConnexx at National Youth Workers Conference in Sacramento
Ken Knisley, City Administrator and I attended the Youth Specialties "National Youth Workers Conference" in Sacramento, the first of three regional premiere youth training conferences. We hosted a booth to invite suburban youth and college groups to come serve this spring or summer with one of our urban or Native American ministries around the country. We met many old and new friends and had a great time.
Here's a shout out to some of those we connexxed with: Fred, Tick, Dave, Curtis, Rollie, Greg (D2S guy, why do we seem to meet at deals like this across the country and you guys are just down the street), Phil, Sean (another Denver dude), Patty & Don, James, Mindy, Dan, Doug & George, Ryan, Sheryl, Adam, Cory, Jason, Rich, John, and many more.
We'll be at NYWC in Pittsburgh Oct 31 - Nov 2 and Nashville Nov 21-24. So if you'll be there or nearby, come by and say hi.
I was also able to use this opportunity to spend half a day with our Bay Area hosts Patty and Don Craft. They're on staff at a great homeless and family shelter in the heart of one of the neediest communities on the west coast. I was blown away by the love and compassion of the entire paid and volunteer staff. They served over 1.5 million meals last year, many more than the McDonalds down the street. If you want to "leave your heart of compassion in San Francisco" come join us.
